Asics Cumulus Running Shoe : Like Running on a Cloud
I've been a recreational runner for years. I usually run on roads and paved trails at the parks in Seattle, where I live. The first thing I noticed about my new Asics Cumulus running shoes was the comfort. It's mesh upper hugs my feet without constricting them. During my first few steps I immediately felt the cushioning in the heel I've felt before in other Asics shoes, but I was happy to feel the same cushioning in the forefoot. Too many shoe companies put all their technology into heel cushioning, forgetting that the forefoot takes a beating, too. I like to run in ultra-light shoes, and the Cumulus comes pretty close to that distinction. It's not as light as a racing flat, but it's got more padded and stable, so that's a bonus. I don't really need a shoe with corrective features since I have a neutral gait, so the Cumulus is ideal for my purposes. Light, well-cushioned, with a little bit of stability thrown in. As I started to run I found the Cumulus just as comfortable as I did while walking in it. I could even feel the breeze coming through the mesh upper (good for hot weather). I like that this shoe has a bit of room at the toe box. Living in Seattle, I run up and down hills all the time, and my toes had plenty of room even going down steep hills. Bottom Line: These shoes are so comfortable that I can't decide where to put them in my closet (when they're not on my feet, of course)...with the shoes or with the slippers.--(M.G.
