Long ago, at my father's urging, I contemplated wearing a reflective vest for my early morning runs. I quickly discarded the idea because the only reflective vests available were unwieldy, somewhat unsightly, and so uncomfortable that they promised to quickly step beyond mere chafing into the realm of laceration. Made of a white ultra-light mesh, the vest is open on each side with adjustable Velcro straps linking the front to back. The vest drapes agreeably over whatever you're wearing and is lightweight and comfortable enough to be worn without anything underneath if the heat of the early morning so dictates. Inch and a half wide reflective stripes run horizontally, two in the front and one in the back, and, when a headlight finds them, the reflective material really goes to work.
