Bite Granola Sandal : Hit the Streets
If you haven't heard of Bite footwear yet, it's time to take a look. They make some pretty hearty sandals and shoes for casual wear, trail wear, and golfing. I like them because they have durable shanked outsoles that provide excellent traction, removable cushioned insoles (so I can use my own full-length orthotic for a custom fit), and a nice rounded toe box (perhaps when it's a sandal it's called a toe area?). The result is a pair of sandals that has plenty of room for my big feet. I wear a men's Bite sandal, but the styles are also available in women's sizes. Bite's Granola sandal was designed for casual wear, with a sole that's slightly less aggressive than the sole on Bite's X-Trac OS Sandal, which I reviewed in June. Like all Bite sandals, the Granola provides a wide, stable base of support, a toe guard at the lip of the sandal, and a deep heel cup. So my feet are supported with every step. The sandals may look a bit clunky, but they're quite comfortable and perfect for hot weather. I also like that the leather straps are adjustable and lined with a soft material (with small cushions at stress points). I was able to wear them right out of the box without blisters. Bottom Line: You don't have to wear trail footwear into town anymore. Now there's a sandal that can handle rough terrain but looks nice with a pair of shorts. Read our other Bite sandals reviews.
