Eating On the Run : Nutrition for Active People
I'm the queen of eating on the run or not eating at all (then binging later). Eating on the Run is just what I need to get back on track. It starts off with basic food facts, explains the benefits and pitfalls of grazing, and provides plenty of dietary facts to help people shop wisely for food. The author even reveals some of the emotional reasons why people seek out the wrong types of food. I like the fact that Tribole doesn't dismiss fast foods and "nutrition" bars, but acknowledges that sometimes these foods are the most convenient. Instead, she provides a nutritional breakdown of bars, drinks, and popular dishes from such restaurants as California Kitchen, Boston Market, Baja Fresh, Blimpie's, Jamba Juice, Denny's, Burger King, McDonald's, and Marie Calender's so that readers can make informed choices when eating these foods. She also provides information on the different types of meals available on the major airlines. Also in this book: strategies for holiday eating and business travel, quick recipes, airports with the healthiest food choices, hotel chains with fitness centers, and more. Bottom LIne: This book is packed with useful information, and it's 1/4 the price of seeing a dietician!--E. D.
