Ex Officio Amphi Pant : Convertible, Versatile

For me, the true test of worth for a pair of pants is if I can actually use the pockets and not worry about stuff falling out when I sit, climb, or crouch. 

What good are pockets if they don't hang onto the stuff you put into them?  I've worn these pants both around town and on day hikes, and am happy to report that the Amphi Pant easily passed the "do I still have my keys?" test. 

Being a "boxer" man, I was skeptical towards the built in mesh brief.   But when I tried on the Amphi Pant and walked around a bit, I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they were.   A partial elastic waist band and built-in belt made for an easily fine tunable fit around the waist. The legs and crotch have a loose fit that allows for an uninhibited full range of motion. 

Made out of lightweight Teflon-treated nylon, these pants are ideally suited for warmer climates or summer, but as long as I stayed active these pants have been fine in the drizzly Northwest autumn.  The Amphi Pant are also useful in those situations when I want to wear shorts but feel I would benefit from the coverage of pants (to protect my legs from brush, bugs, and sun). 

I'm 6'4" and usually pants sized S, M, L that fit my waist end up being too short in the inseam.  The Amphi Pant is available in "long" and "short" versions.  Since I had the option, I went with the long ; it's nice to wear a pair of pants that fit both my waist and height.  (One word of advice to would-be-buyers... when they say "long," they mean it! )

Bottom Line: Easy and lightweight with a clean look.  A nice pair of pants for warm (and even cool) weather. --A.S. (Nov '07)
