Ex Officio XTT Pant : A Feminine Twist on an Old Favorite
In the past, I've always been at loss about what to wear hiking when it's cold enough for jeans, not rainy enough for rain gear, but too wet for anything made out of cotton. Finally, I've found the perfect fall/winter pant for all occasions. I hike in them, I power walk in them, I wear all around town. I even wore them to Thanksgiving dinner with my Smartwool Longsleeve V Shirt! Why do I wear them all the time....well, they're soft and fleecy on the inside, they're toasty warm, they're water resistant, and if I should spill some Yuletide cheer on them, they're also stain resistant. Most important, they fit like a glove, and have plenty of give so I can be as active as I want. I also like the pockets on these pants: two velcro-enclosure back pockets, a side cargo-style velcro-enclosure pocket, and two slanted zippered front pockets. So I can carry my credit cards, keys, and some cash in safe pockets. No purse necessary. So many outdoor clothes for women are based on old-fashioned, high-waisted styles. Ex Officio has done an excellent job of retooling this classically styled pant, lowering the waistband for a more comfortable fit that's not too low. I was also happy to find out that the XTT pant has a generous hem, so women like me who need more than a 31" inseam, can let out the hem and make the pants a couple of inches longer. These pants are also available in a men's style and sizes. Bottom Line: I love these pants. They have a very flattering fit, the material is so comfortable, and they're trail-tough.--E.D.
