Harbinger Stroke PS Kayak Gloves : You Won't Even Know You Have Them On

What I love most about wearing the Stroke PS gloves while sea kayaking is how much I don’t notice my hands. During paddles on blustery, chilly days out on Puget Sound, these gloves have kept my hands comfortable, warm, and limber. (If you're a kayaker, you know that there’s nothing worse than cold hands while out on the water for hours at a time.)

A few times while paddling in choppy seas, my hands got wet. After these splashing soaks, I cringed, assuming that my gloves would stay damp and cold. But the cold and damp never set in, and my hands felt just fine.

Harbinger designed the Stroke PS with a mesh porthole system, so water doesn’t get trapped in the gloves but seeps out instead. These gloves are a big improvement over some neoprene paddling gloves I’ve had in the past that tended to stay water-logged and soggy once they got wet.

Traction pads and high abrasion palm material give these gloves great grip and durability. I especially appreciated these features on a 4+-mile crossing over to Blake Island and back across Puget Sound. A light but persistent wind kept us paddling nonstop, with frequent bracing strokes against the oncoming waves.

Although temperatures warm up in the summer, the water temps generally don’t vary much; these gloves are light enough that I’ll be wearing, or carrying them in my cockpit dry sac, year-round.

Bottom LIne: A well-made and comfortable glove for whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking, or any water adventure. Available in full finger and short finger styles and sizes for men and women.
