Icebreaker BodyFit 200 Oasis Crewe for Men and Women : A Second Skin for Fall

I first wore my black Icebreaker long-sleeved Oasis Crewe on a date. Body-hugging, but not tight, it was the perfect combo with my organic blue jeans. It was a cold, fall night, but I stayed warm under the stars even with just a lightweight jacket. Later in the evening, things heated up indoors, but I stayed exactly the right temperature, thanks to my new merino top.
The next day, I wore my Oasis Crewe on a power walk. I wore it again the next day for a power walk. Two days later, I wore it to the state fair. It was supposed to be cold, but ended up sunny, in the high 60s. Surprisingly, I didn't overheat, even when sitting directly in the sun. The top did an amazing job of breathing and regulating my body temperature.
The next day I wore my Oasis Crewe on an hour-long slog down a large hill and back up again with my backpack loaded with mail and groceries. Later that evening, another power walk.
So, I've worn this soft, comfy top now at least six times without washing it. I just don't want to part with it that long (even though it's super quick-drying--if I washed it tonight, it would be ready to wear by the morning). Also, it doesn't really smell bad yet. That's the beauty of merino wool. It wears like your favorite cotton top, it wicks and breathes better than any other fabric, and it's naturally odor resistant. I'm saving energy, electricity, and water by owning wool baselayers!
I've been a fan of Icebreaker gear for a long time. The BodyFit200 wool is ideal for cool weather. The flat-seam construction means no chafing or binding, and the raglan sleeves make this a well-fitting, easy to layer, item.
The Oasis Crewe is all I'll wear under a rain jacket for now, and even as we head into winter, it will be my primary layering piece (under a thin fleece or soft shell) for hiking and snowshoeing. I also have this top in a short-sleeved version, which I wear year-round, and in a tank top version for every day of summer.
Bottom Line: I love this versatile, durable top. It looks great, I can wear it in any weather, and it's super easy to care for.--E.D. (Oct '07)
