Targhee II Mid : Spring in My Step
It's Spring, and we've had our fair share of rain in Seattle this March. While every one else complained about the weather, I happily laced up my Targhee II Mid trail boots for my daily power walks. A little precipitation, or even a lot of it, wasn't about to slow me down. I've always loved Keens for their thick, stable soles that provide plenty of cushioning and protection. The treaded sole also helps prevent foot fatigue with extra support through the arch, and deep rock- and pavement-gripping tread (rain or shine). The Targhee II Mid sticks to the basic, simple Keen design, sleek and nimble. The uppers are made out of nubuck leather, punctuated with patches of waterproof synthetic material at the natural foot flex points. The styles serves two points: a softer upper that doesn't require break-in time and a barrier against rain and puddles. I appreciate that Keen uses nylon loops rather than plastic or metal hooks in it's lacing system. I can cinch up my laces as tight as I want, and never get the pressure points I get from other boots with hooks or grommets. (The top of the lacing system does employ a hook, but it's backed by plently of padding.) I like the Mid's height, which is a nice alternative from the Keen shoes I usually wear. I like the extra ankle support and the padded ankle "collar." Available in two color schemes in both men's and women's sizes. Also available in a lower-cut shoe style. Bottom Line: I've logged many, many miles in rainy weather in my Targhee II Mids, and I always arrive at my destination with dry feet. An ideal lightweight hiker with excellent water protection.--E.D. (April 08) Price: $119.95 Buy Online: , , Manufacturer's Site: www.keenfootwear.com |
