MKG Travel Pillow : Pack Light, Sleep Tight

The MKG Travel Pillow was a constant companion on my recent trip to North Georgia. At 9.7 oz. and a packed size of 8"x3.5" inches, this inflatable pillow was a "breeze" to stow in my carry on luggage. In fact, it made such a compact little package that I even threw it into my handbag in case I wanted to nap during a long day trip down to Atlanta. The pillow has been thoughtfully equipped with built-in elastic loops to minimize the pillow's rolled up volume, and comes with a handy stuff sack, too.

Since I went into my journey massively sleep-deprived, I was very glad indeed for this particular travel companion, and snoozed with it throughout much of the four hours by car and two by plane. MKG's product is a big improvement on other inflatable pillows I've used for camping and travel. First of all, fully inflated it is the size of a standard pillow, instead of the micro-mini size of my other inflatables. Secondly, the MKG is topped with a comfy layer of batting and a blue/ purple polyester cover with a delightfully cool, silky feel. Best of all, the pillow is machine washable so I could remove all that travel grime once I got home.

One of the niftiest things about this pillow is that, being inflatable, I can easily tailor firmness, support, and size to my needs. For example, while flying on a weenie little commuter jet to Atlanta, a full-size pillow was too big to fit in my seat, so I let some air out of my MKG and stowed it against the cabin wall. In the car, though, I wanted a huge pillow to help prop me up so I blew up the MKG to full capacity.

Now that I'm home, my MKG Travel Pillow is even helping me in the office. As I write this review, it is folded in half and providing excellent lumbar support!

Bottom Line: A big improvement on other inflatable pillows on the market. Great for travel, camping, and even keeping good posture while chained to the computer. --N.W. (May '06)
