Nau Stylus Pant

Some people have comfort foods; I have comfort pants. I'm a big fan of elastic waistband and drawstring pants because they're always feel good no matter how much I weigh or what types of activities I'm doing.

Nau's Stylus Pant is exactly the type of pant I love. First, it's cut straight and has long, straight legs. I own too many yoga pants that have flared or bootcut legs -- and I can't stand them because all that extra fabric just trips me up. Same thing happens in the hips. Some pants have some "shape" built into them - which doesn't really work with slim-hipped gals like me. The Stylus pant definitely suits my tall, lean body, and I think it will flatter most figures because the soft organic cotton hangs very well and has a lot of stretch (10% Spandex) in it to accommodate curvier figures.

I'm a big fan of low-rise pants, especially workout pants, because when pants sit on my hips I feel must more at ease and can move freely without feeling constricted by a waistband. The Stylus Pant is more of a medium rise, with the back covering a bit higher than the front. I don't mind a bit higher rise because I wear these pants most often as every day pants (they're too lovely to exercise in!) and travel pants. When I wear them for yoga, I like to fold down the waistband.

The Stylus Pant has a nice wide waistband with a drawstring incorporated into the middle of it. There's enough Spandex in the waistband (and in the entire pant) that it gently hugs my body. When I want a snugger fit, all I have to do is cinch the drawstring.

These pants are well made, which is obvious when you see them on and if you turn them inside out to look at the seams, and feel almost like dressy pants because the material is so luxurious. I love that they come only in black or grey (i.e., Caviar and Metal), my favorite colors, and that they're cut long (I'm a 34" inseam and they hit the floor when I wear them with sandals). Shorter women will need to hem them.

Sizes: S-L. (I tested a size L, my usual size, and they were a bit big, but I love loose pants. If you're in between sizes and want a snug fit, you might want to go down a size.)

Bottom Line: I love these fancy black pants because, like all my favorite Nau pieces, they're sophisticated, they fit well, they're versatile, and they're made out of organic cotton.--E.D. (June 2010)
