Nike ACG Cairn Shorts : All-Purpose, All Summer
ACG’s Cairn shorts are exactly what I want for my warm weather outdoors adventures – lightweight, quick-drying, simply styled, and functional. With summer in full swing now in the Pacific Northwest, I find myself pulling out the Cairn shorts a lot. I’ve worn them for my regular walks through the forest trails in Carkeek Park (where I appreciate that the side slit pockets zip shut so I won’t lose my keys) and on longer day hikes. Because they dry so quickly, they’ve also been great for mellow, flat water kayaking in the lakes around Seattle. Although this is a lightweight short, I like the length – short but not too short. They hit about mid-thigh, so I’m comfortable wearing them around town as well as on the trail. I also like the inset elastic belt, with it’s plastic clip “buckle.” These shorts are easy to stuff into a small pocket or space—a nice bonus for my upcoming backpacking trip, where light gear will be a premium. Bottom LIne: A basic but well-designed short for a variety of outdoors activities. Available in men's style and sizes, too.--J. I.
