Patagonia Lugano Boot : Let it Snow
I moved to Crested Butte, Colorado just in time for winter. Crested Butte lies at the top of the Gunnison Valley; its crown the Crested Butte Mountain Resort. It is beautiful here and COLD. Thankfully, PrimaLoft® and Patagonia teamed up to create the cozy Lugano Boot. At first glance, they reminded me of Uggs with their suede and shearling trimmed uppers, but they're more stylish and more functional. On second look, I realized the soles are built for winter-- that was the feature I need to see to try them on. The soles are siped, just like my winter tires--meaning there are thin slits are cut into the surface to create greater traction for icy conditions. Very handy. I also appreciate that the soles are made out of 15% recycled content. The Lugano boots are fitted, not loose, clunky, and bulky like a lot of pull-on winter boots. The dense foam insoles can be changed out for custom orthodics or other footbeds for a perfect fit. Because they are fitted, they feel stylish and are way more versatile than your average winter boot. The Luganos work as well with pants and skirts as they do for early morning dog walks or apres ski. The Lugano boots are made with 50% recycled PrimaLoft® , the insulation with the best warmth to weight ratio next to down, and lined with Polartec®; which means even when it's minus 9 degrees, I don't need to wear socks. Available in Khaki, Black, and Velvet Brown, sizes 5- 12. Sorry, guys, these boots are only available in women's sizes. Bottom Line: My Lugano boots have become my footwear of choice this winter; my pack boots have been regulated to the garage. --S.W. (Dec 08) Manufacturer's Site: www.patagonia.com
