Patagonia Wool 4 Bottoms : Peak Performance
Some people let the weather get to them, some people get out in the weather no matter what. Considering my midwestern roots, I like to think I fit into the second category. I also fit perfectly into my Patagonia Wool 4 pants. These performance base layer bottoms, available in men's and women's sizes, are the perfect pant for cold weather activities. I've been wearing them on hikes and power walks (and by power walk, I mean an hour-long fast-paced churn) all winter. They breathe really well when it's in the low 40s and almost too warm to wear them, and they keep my thighs warm when the temps dip down to freezing digits. I like the fit on this tapered leg pant. I wouldn't call them low-rise, but the rise is comfortably lower than most high-waisted women's outdoor wear (yes!). I also appreciate the front pockets; I always seem to have something to carry on my outings. My Wool 4 bottoms are super soft. The underside of the pant feels (and looks) more like a fluffy, terry cloth material than a performance fabric. So I get the feel of cotton with the technical benefits of wool. Nice. Bottom Line: A serious performance piece for people who don't let a little weather keep them indoors--E.D. (Feb. 08) Price: $115 Manufacturer's Site: www.patagonia.com |
