Prana Thresher Pant : All I Kneed For A Day Out
My new Prana Thresher pant is a great addition to my outdoor wardrobe. While definitely a climbing inspired pant, I think the Thresher is good for just about everything. The Thresher pant is made from a cotton/nylon blend, so it's got a good mix of properties. The pants are cool, airy and breathable like cotton, but also have the tight weave and abrasion resistance of nylon. The nylon allows the fabric to be thinner than cotton but have the same strength and wear characteristics. The result is a lightweight, flexible pant that's even stronger than canvas. Along the same lines, I also like the ventilation holes in the crotch. They add to the airiness and breathability. Most of the time, durable pants are thick pants, and thick pants are hot pants. But the Threshers are thin, cool and burly. Thanks to the light, breathable fabric, I've used them even on the hottest summer days and stayed comfortable. One feature that makes the Thresher a great pair of outdoor pant: the reinforced knee on each pant leg. I love that. I can kneel to take pictures or sort gear, I can crawl around through caves or beneath jumbles of boulders, and I can grovel my way up squeeze chimneys while climbing. I could of course do that with regular pants, but I always worry about putting holes in the knees. I don't worry while wearing my Threshers, which means I can focus more on what I'm actually doing. Last, I love the thin, low-profile built-in belt. It cinches slim and tight under my climbing hardness, keeping my pants up but preventing the dreaded chafe. Available in gray, green and tan. Bottom LIne: Good summertime outdoor pants that excel on the rock. -- N.W. (Sept 09) Price: $76, click to shop - , shop at amazon.com Manufacturer's Site: www.prana.com
