Shock Absorber D+ Max Sports Bra (style B4490) : Ready for the Big Guns
Any of you readers who share my size issues when it comes to super supportive sports bras have heard me complain before about how difficult it is to find a high-impact bra when you have a high-impact chest and a small rib cage size. And those of you A and B cuppers who think I'm a nag --I've found a bra for all of us to love. Of course, I'm going to keep complaining about the lack of support us bignsmall gals get from U.S. bra companies until they take notice!! In the meantime, I'm also going to test as many bras I can find from faraway lands like England and Australia and France! The UK's Shock Absorber D+ Max Sports Bra line is one of my favs. Like the B190 style, the B4490, the next step up in high-impact support, is also lightweight and manages to provide an impressive level of protection without underwires or massive compression. I love this bra. I'm normally a black lingerie person. It's just easier if everything I wear is black. But this time I wanted to test the bright magenta/peach colored D+ Max Sports Bra. It's fun, it fits like a glove, and my gals are snuggly packed when I head out the door. No side spillage! The bra definitely minimizes but it has definite cups and an ingenious support system. There are several layers of fabric underneath my breasts, and a the top layer of material is a combination of strategicly placed stretchy and firm panels. Instead of a four-hook enclosure, the bra has two rows of two hooks to secure the back of the bra. It feels secure on, and it's an attractive look for women who want to wear the bra on its own. I like the soft, padded straps. I always want a thicker rib cage band (my ideal would be 2.5-3 inches) on every bra I test, but this one is pretty good - it's about an inch thick. This bra is rated for maximum impact. I think that rating is accurate. Even though I would normally only run in a bra that had maximum compression and zero movement (because I'm completely obsessive about having NO movement), I'm wearing the D+ Max as my running bra as I slowly get back into running after a long, long time away from it. I'm finding it effective. Available in the US, UK, Europe. Sizes: 28-34 A; 28-38 B, C; 28-40 D, DD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH. Also available in white, black. (Rear fastening - 1 for A-D cup and 2 for DD+) I'd like to thank LessBounce.com, an online sports bra store based in England, for providing the test bras. They know a lot about bra fitting and sell a variety of U.S., U. K., and European brand sports bras in all styles and sizes. If you'd like to support them, purchase the bra at their site, www.lessbounce.com, and please tell them you heard about them here. Bottom LIne: I love the support and fit I get from this bra--complete coverage, minimizing appearance, and it allows me to move without worrying about my chest flapping around.--E.D.
