Timbuk2 Hayes Day Pack : Built for a Woman, Strong Enough for a Laptop

I'm always a bit skeptical about products "made for women" because, hey, I'm just as tough on my gear as the next guy...or lady.

I'm also very picky about which cases I use to transport my PowerBook. Luckily, Timbuk2's Hayes day pack has all the features I need.

First, a roomy, corduroy lined laptop compartment, with thick padding on both sides, as well as a file sleeve. A large, deep pouchish front pocket holds my back-up hard drive, digital camera, wireless modem, and other essentials. An inner sleeve holds more files, and has pouches and zippered pockets for pens, small accessories, and money. There's also an iPod pocket (and discreet hole in the top flap so I can be plugged in even when I'm packed up). A large buckled flap covers the front of the case and two small zippered pockets.

The padded shoulder straps are curved to fit a women's torso. There are also strap loops on either side of the pack if you want to carry the back over your shoulder or attach a water bottle. Finally, the bottom of the pack is covered in a flexible, rubbery material, so your goods won't get wet if you have to set it down on a wet sidewalk.

As usual with Timbuk2 bags, you have a choice of color combinations ( I have the aqua blue with silver stripe), all made out of super tough nylon, with heavy duty zippers.

Bottom Line: Love it. A great backpack with a slim profile that still carries a heavy load. --E.D. (Oct. '06)
