Tsubo Sinas Shoe : Street Sneakers
As a lifelong Seattlite, I'm rarely able to buy light-colored shoes that can stand the rain and mud that plague the Pacific Northwest--until I tried Tsubo's Sinas shoes in white. I look for three qualities in a good street shoe: style, comfort, and durability. I knew immediately after putting on these shoes that they fit the first two criteria. The sleek and sporty leather lends a classy look to this upscale sneaker, and the quilting, splashes of gray color and thin laces help transform the Sinas from a good basic sneaker to a stylish street shoe. The cushioned foot bed welcomed my feet, promised comfort all day, and then delivered. The fabric around the ankles grips slightly, which keeps my ankle firmly in place as I brave slippery ground. At the end of the day, after dashing to the bus, hiking across downtown to my favorite lunch spot, picking up groceries after work, and walking around the neighborhood for exercise after work, my feet didn't have the usual end-of-day soreness. Sweet. I first tested the Sinas on a wet, cold day to see how the white leather would hold up. Since then I've braved several similar days, and my shoes are still sparkling white. The rain slides off the leather upper, and it only takes one quick swipe with a damp cloth to remove a few mud spots. The rubber sole is not only durable but doesn't cause a break in my stride as I come in from the rainy sidewalks to a slick marble floor. Bottom Line: If the Sinas perform so well during the winter, I can't wait to show them off with shorts in the summer--and I know they'll still be white!--L.J.
