Tsubo Yocto Shoes : Fleet Meets Street
It was love at first site when I saw a display of Tsubo shoes at the Outdoor Retailers show in Salt Lake City last August. Finally, I'd found the footwear I'd wanted for years -- sleek, sporty, street, and spy all in one shoe. The Yocto is the perfect all-around shoe for me. I get the comfort of an athletic shoe, the fit of a well-soled mocassin, and the style of a versatile urban shoe that looks great with jeans or shorts. It's also the perfect complement to my covert night gear when I'm living out my Sidney Bristow fantasies. I love the slip-on style (the laces are mostly decorative, but do cinch up the shoe if needed) and the wide toe box. The shoes insoles are surprisingly dense and padded, and can be removed if you need to wear a full-length orthic. For such a lightweight shoe, the Yocto is surprisingly comfortable, and it's gripper sole provides excellent traction on wet pavement. And if I have to rappel down the side of a building some evening, I'm sure my Yocto shoes will serve me well. Bottom LIne: Tsubo shoes are available in men's and women's sizes and styles. Look for them at REI and in the Title IX catalog (for women). --E.D. (April '05) Price: $110.99 Manufacturer's Site: www.tsubo.com |
