Water Girl Funseeker Top : This Shirt Makes a Splash

“NICE shirt!”

That's my husband's unsolicited response to my new Water Girl Funseeker top. Since he only comments on my garb about once every five years (The last occasion I can remember was our wedding, re: my wedding dress.), I took it a huge compliment that he not only noticed, but liked it.

I couldn’t agree with him more. The shirt is beautifully constructed out of cotton (with a bit of lycra) with a fun color patch design, stylish extra-long sleeves, and a velvety peached finish. Plus, the snug, feminine fit made me look like Angelina Jolie. (Who knew I had boobs like that!? Wait, maybe that's why my husband noticed!) The Funseeker achieves the perfect balance of functionally and fit, with an eye-catching, fun style. It's really a feminized version of a sports top.

I usually don’t buy cotton sports wear because it tends to get clammy during exercise, but I felt perfectly comfortable wearing it while biking, hiking, and going for power walks. And I felt particularly attractive wearing the top around town.

Water Girl products are designed “by women, for women,” and seem to be targeted to the surf crowd. However, the product line is equally appealing (and appropriate) as yoga wear, exercise apparel, or street wear. In fact, I liked the versatility of the Water Girl tops so much that I got online and bought up one of each item in their clearance section!

It's been fun to update my wardrobe with this fun top. I also feel good about the positive impact of my purchase. Patagonia’s policy is to make gear that’s good for both you and the environment. Water Girl uses only organically grown cotton in their garments, and they donate one percent of their sales to grassroots environmental organizations.
