Wigwam Socks : Ingenious!
When I’m heading out to go hiking, power walking, or skiing, I always slip on a pair of Wigwam socks and then throw an extra pair in my pack. Wigwam takes designing their specialty sports socks very seriously, which makes them the ultimate sports socks to keep my feet warm, dry, and free from pressure points. Their Ingenius line of socks feature a moisture-repellent liner sock and an insulating, merino wool outer sock knit together. I have a couple of pairs of the Ingenius Rebel Quarter socks, which quickly became my favorite all-around socks for my regular brisk walks along the forest trails near my home (as well as for everyday wear, too). What I especially like about these socks is their sleek, trim weight that fits well in my snug-fitting trail shoes. The slightly, heavier-weight Ultimax socks are great for longer hikes and even cross-country skiing when I want a little more bulk in my boots. The Ultimax Silver Crew sock, made of Wigwam's X-static fiber fabric that has anti-odor and anti-microbial properties, has nice details like extra cushioning in the leg and sole. So when I take off my boots in the car on the ride home, my hiking buddies aren’t knocked over. (I think I should get them some of these socks, too.) The Ultimax Hiking/Outdoor sock, which I wear hiking, has a dense but lightweight cushioned sole to keep my feet happy. I have had trouble with chronic Achilles tendonitis over the years, so I especially like the abrasion-resistant Achilles “cradle” in this sock that provides a little extra cushion and protection around my Achilles. Bottom Line: Wigwam socks are high-quality, well-designed, and keep my feet relatively moisture-free and happy on my hikes and other outdoors activities.--J.I.
