Airstream Sunglasses by Zeal Optics : Designed for Women, But Men Wear Them, Too
Zeal's Airstream sunglasses fit my face perfectly, and the optics are simply incredible. I know they're made for women, but I love them anyway. They fit my moderately sized face, and they're not goofy and oversized. They also provide a lot of wind and sun protection. One thing I really like about the Airstream shades is their height. I've found that they work best for bike riding, because they have a lot of protection above the eye, at least on my head. That works great when I'm doing anything that requires me to look up a lot - such as cycling, belaying, rock climbing, or a host of any other outdoor activities. The lenses are one piece and quite large, so don't get distracted by bright shafts of light creeping in from the sides. Can't stand that! I also like going on mountain runs with the Airstreams because they have a pretty secure grip on my temples, but they don't give me a headache. A a rubberized nose piece helps hold them securely in place. I've found the nose piece particularly helpful when I start sweating--it's much more effective than a molded plastic nose piece. Best of all, the lenses are awesome. I'm using a bronze-hued, polarized ZB-13 lens. The color fidelity is great, and the world is crystal clear. I remember trying ona pair of spendy competitors' shades, and there was so much distortion at the edge of the lens (in my peripheral vision) that my balance was tweaky. The Zeal's are super crisp, and are perfect for when I'm boulder hopping or negotiating my way through some sort of technical and balance-challenging terrain. The Airstreams are available in seven colors, including blue, clear and black. Bottom LIne: Great all-sport sunglasses that are made for women but work well and look great on men too. .--N.W.
