Prana Fusion Knicker : Perfect for Yoga and Climbing
Prana has produced a real utilitarian piece with its yoga-inspired Fusion Knicker. I figured I'd just wear them for yoga, but I wound up doing a fair bit of climbing and cold weather trail runs in them because I like them so much. They're super stretchy, and they're on the thicker side, so they offer unlimited range of motion, durability, and, to some degree, a little bit of insulation. On the yoga front, the knickers are great. I love the length -- they end just a few inches below the knee, which helps to keep me from getting too hot. The waist is about two inches thick, and like the rest of the pant, made out of a Lycra/nylon blend. Its thickness eliminates the need for heavy elastic or a draw cord. It doesn't bind or get in the way either. The fabric itself is great for yoga because it's so stretchy -- in fact, I can get 10 inches or more of stretch out of the pants if I pull them top to bottom. That helps a lot when I'm on the yoga mat in difficult poses. The fabric is also great for wicking away sweat. prAna's paid attention to the small details, too: there's a small key pocket on the inside of the pant, which is handy. I normally just put my keys in my pocket, and wind up getting jabbed in the thigh for an entire session. These knickers aren't done after yoga, though. As I wore them, I realized they'd make great climbing pants because there isn't a waist band to get bunched up beneath my harness. (The waist band is designed like many other prAna climbing bottoms -- just a big thick stretchy band). I took them to the gym recently and I was pleased with their performance. I was also happy about how much range of motion they offered me, just as they did at the yoga studio. Bottom Line: Thick, stretchy, super comfortable knicker designed for yoga but worn for just about everything, everywhere.--N.W.
