When I’m looking for workout gear, comfort is key. So I was thrilled to test Cabela’s Women’s E.C.W.C.S. Thermal Zone® Base Layer Bottoms.
They fit almost perfectly, the material feels soft against my skin, and the pant performs well. I like the lower-rise cut and the wide waistband. Both are ideal for an athletic fit. The waistband stays put and never rolls or binds. The Cabela’s Women’s E.C.W.C.S. Thermal Zone® Base Layer Bottom is too short for me, but I’m 6′ tall with a 34″ inseam. The still work great because I don’t need this type of tight to come all the way down to the tops of my shoes.
Cabela’s Women’s E.C.W.C.S. Thermal Zone® Base Layer Bottom is made out of Polartec® Power Dry® (97% polyester/3% spandex), with two styles of panels strategically placed around my legs. My thighs and hamstrings are enveloped in the thicker panels, which have a soft, waffle-patterned underside. Thinner panels that are more like traditional tights are located behind my knees and along my shins. It’s an effective design that keeps my muscles warm in cold weather and gives me the flexibility and light weight in areas where I don’t need warmth.
I’ve been wearing Cabela’s Women’s E.C.W.C.S. Thermal Zone® Base Layer Bottom for power walks in 40 degree F temps. In fact, this pant is designed for much colder weather. I’d wear them for running in temperatures down to 30 degrees F and under a shell for even colder temps. What I love about this tight is that I would normally overhead wearing something of this weight in 40 degree F temps, but the material and panel placement do a great job of regulating my temperature. My thigh muscles stay warm but I don’t overheat because the tight breathes so well. It also dries very quickly. So I stay comfortable even when I’m overdressed for the weather.
The only thing I would change about this high-performing tight is the color. I like the idea of pink and grey, but the dark pink that covers most of this tight is really PINK. I tend to only wear black gear, so powering around my neighborhood in these tights made me feel very conspicuous. And yes, a few friends laughed at me. Still, they fit great, and the work well, and that’s the most important thing. I’m a size 10, and the size M was a great fit for me. Available in S-XL.
